Power4 Powers Humber Bridge Bash – 30 Years On
Power4, a specialist in the hire, sale and maintenance of generators, temporary power and lighting solutions, proved to be a great hit at the recent Birds Eye Humber Bridge Bash. Sponsoring the prestigious event, Power4 also supplied the temporary power and lighting equipment for the four-day festival to celebrate the silver jubilee of the opening of Humber Bridge – just as the company did 30 years ago when the Bridge was being built.
Running from 13th to 16th July, the anniversary extravaganza was held at specially built arenas on the north and south banks of the river Humber, with the Humber Bridge forming the backdrop to four open air concerts, organised by Hull-based HPSS Event Production.
Commemorating the official opening of Humber Bridge by HM Queen Elizabeth II, music stars, including Classical BRIT Awards winner Katherine Jenkins and the band of HM Marines Scotland, wowed a crowd of more than 100,000 people over the course of the four-day celebrations - with visitors also enjoying a programme of dance, theatre, comedy and extreme sports entertainment.
David Sanderson, Sales and Marketing Director of Power4, comments: “The Humber Bridge Bash was a great event to work on and sponsor, not least because of our involvement when the Bridge was being built. As specialists in power maintenance and optimisation, the complexity of powering lights, sound and stages simultaneously for such a huge event was a challenge we really enjoyed – We’re now looking forward to powering the celebrations for the 50th Anniversary of the Humber Bridge.”
Open 12 hours-a-day, the four-day festival utilised 25 Power4 generators and 15 mobile lighting towers to provide each element of the event’s energy and lighting requirements. Four 100kVA generators supplied the power for the main stage’s sound and spotlights whilst a further 21 generators, ranging from 14kVA to 45kVA, provided the power for parameter entertainment and stalls around the arena.
Power4 also supplied the associated ancillary equipment including AMF panels, cables and mains and local distribution boards. As well as providing fuel management to ensure the continuous running of the equipment, a team of highly experienced Power4 engineers were onsite throughout the festival to ensure everything ran smoothly.
“Power4 has a proven reputation built on ensuring the highest levels of quality and service – the company was therefore an obvious choice to power this event,” said Hugh Jones, Director of HPSS Event Production. “In addition to supplying specialist equipment, Power4’s expert knowledge and onsite advice and management proved invaluable in ensuring the Humber Bridge Bash was a great success.
“The fact that Power4 also provided the temporary power during the Humber Bridge’s construction, 30 years ago, is testament to the company’s exceptional skills and professionalism,” added Hugh.
Winning the contract to provide the Humber Bridge Bash with specialist power and lighting equipment comes on the back of a long line of successful contract wins for Power4, aided by the company’s recent £750,000 investment in new equipment. |
